August 27, 2024

The following statement was issued from Officer in Charge Louis Coplin.

I am deeply saddened to share that our former Board Chairman, the Honorable Conrad H. “Connie” Lang Jr., died on Sunday, Aug. 25. Judge Lang’s legacy is one of service, support and dedication to making a difference in the lives of 鶹ý’s students, as well as our community as a whole, for which we are grateful.

A prominent citizen in Rensselaer County, Judge Lang’s service to the college and the greater community spanned decades. We remain thankful for the leadership and dedication he showed to the college as a longtime member of the Board of Trustees, on which he served from 2002-2018, first as a board member, then as vice chair, and finally as chair.

In addition to his service on the Board, Judge Lang was a notable advocate for the college among county and state legislators, workforce partners and community leaders, providing an important bridge to public sponsors and private supporters. He and his wife Betty were leadership donors to the college’s Foundation for decades, lending philanthropic support to help our students achieve their academic goals without financial obstacles.

Our hearts and condolences go out to Judge Lang’s family and friends, including Professor Val Waldin, as well as his former colleagues and the community members he helped during his long career in public service. His impact still resonates today, and he will be sincerely missed.

Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel in Averill Park.
